Puppies

Our goal, at Woodland Hills Retrievers, is to produce genetically sound and healthy lab pups that are handsome, calm, intelligent, and highly trainable.  We have litters with puppies that are black, yellow, and chocolate in color. Our puppies come with a solid health guarantee against hereditary hip and eye dysplasia.  In order to promote responsible ownership, all of our pups come with a "Limited Registration".  If breeding or showing in conformation is your intention, then let's discuss that.

Like their parents, with proper training, our pups will have great temperaments, and will have a strong desire to please, to retrieve, and to work.  We believe that the Best comes from the Best. We work hard to instill a “learning with confidence” attitude in our pups.  They will be socialized.  They will have a good start on the “Come” command, coming when called or whistle to, and will be introduced to game birds or wings.  Also, they will be started on stacking for Conformation Shows.  We put a lot of time into our pups from the day they are born.

We feed our pups a premium puppy food from the Purina Company and have been very pleased with the results.  Before going to their new homes, they will be wormed 2-3 times, be current on their puppy vaccinations, and will be seen by a certified veterinary at least 2 times.  They will come with a puppy packet, an AKC Registration, a pedigree, and a health document of vaccinations and for you to keep your puppy visits documented.

With deposits reserving pups, the selection of pups will be made in the order that the deposits were received.  Deposits will be promptly refunded only if the puppy of your preference, color and gender, could not be provided. We have and can ship pups anywhere in the country through Delta, North West Air, Continental, and Sky West Air.  We are extremely proud of our dogs and puppies. Please contact us if you have any questions, or if you would like to have a Woodland Hill’s Retriever.

None until 2009.

Upcoming litters for 2009

1.  CH Belquest Junk In The Trunk "Tru" x Villa's Slam Dunk Flo Jo "Shelby"

** Yellow and Black Litter**

The goal of this breeding is to produce the dual purpose labs, pups that can compete in the show ring in Conformation and pups that can also be successful in attaining the AKC Hunt Test Titles.  In other words, these pups should be the best of the best in looks, and in becoming super family and hunting companions.

Tru, a gorgeous almost white American Show Champion, who resides here at Woodland Hills Retrievers, is the son of the Number One ranked show lab in the US in the year 2000, CH Boradors By George, better known by many as "Gordy".  Tru had a short by spectacular show record becoming a Champion at the age of one and in only 4 shows.  His grandfather and great grandfathers are also show champions with Hunt test Titles.

Shelby is a gorgeous black daughter of one the most titled lab in the US. CH MACH Prospects Slam Dunk "Kobe" UD MH MX MXJ.  Kobe qualiied himself for the Master Nationals in 2002.  He also had 3 JAMs in the only 3 field trial that he competed in.  Isn't that impressive!  Kobe is also one of the elite 40 plus labs that are show champions with a Master Hunter Title.  He maybe the only lab with 2 Champion Tiltes.

What can I say, these pups should be super good looking, have a great desire to retrieve and to please.  They should be calm, intelligent, and easy to train.  These pups should make a super family companion.  Now if your family may have a hunter or two in it, these pups should more than meet their needs.

If this is the kind of lab you're looking for to join your family, drop us an email or give us a call.  As you can see from the past litters this year, we can ship to anywhere in the country and even to Canada.  Thanks again for your time.  Hope we can place one of our pups in your home.

HISTORY OF ONE OF OUR SPECTACULAR PREVIOUS LITTERS

Am/Can CH Skyfire's Oughta Be A Law "Alibi" JH CD WC  X  Villa's Mayan Tomb Raider "Maya"

** All Chocolate Litter **

This special breeding took place on October 30, 2007.    We were very fortunate to have found Alibi whom we chose to sire this litter for many reasons.  Alibi is a show champion is both the US and in Canada.  Not only was he cleared health wise with an Excellent on his OFA and eyes CERF, but he cannot sire a pup that will go blind due to his A1 Normal rating on his PRA.  Maya also has the same PRA rating.

Both Maya and Alibi come from a ton of show champions and like Alibi, many of these show champions have also excelled in AKC Hunt Tests.  When Alibi was bred to Maya's half sisters and cousins, some of their pups have gone on to win at LRCC Nationals 2007 and at the LRC of the Potomac 2006.  The Potomac is the largest specialty show for Labs.

Maya is the daughter of Show Champion Naiken Indian Temple, MH (Master Hunter).  Maya's mother, a Junior Hunter, is also the daughter of BISS CH Ruthless Blazing Brentely, MH, CDX, WCX, Can CWC.  Both sire and grand sire make up 40 plus labs that are in the elite group of Show Champions/Master Hunters.

If you’re looking chocolate pup with the looks great enough to compete in the AKC Conformation Shows, with trainability and desire to run in the AKC Hunt Tests or become a fine gun dog, or if you're just looking to add a Super Companion to your family, then give us a call and reserve a pup from this incredible litter.  They should have unlimited potential.

Flash--December 28, 2007.  Alibi and Maya's litter was born this morning.  There are 4 females and 3 males.  They look great and are doing well.  We are thrilled to usher the New Years with such a super litter.

Week One-- The pups had their dew claws removed. They received a great compliment from the vet who said they they looked impressive.  Maya is a super mom who loves to eat and drink has always been able to transfer her nutritional intake to her pups.  The pups are putting on amazing weight, bulk, and size.

Week Two-- Even the females which were noticeably smaller in size than their brothers are very blocky with nice thick otter's tail, and looking like the vet said, Impressive!  In fact some of females have caught up in size with their brothers.  Their eyes are opened now.

Week Three-- The pups are starting to walking.  They are large blocky and gorgeous.

Week Five--The pups are weaned and are eating almost a cup twice a day.  They are looking stocky and good.  They are completely socialized.  Most "come" to a whistle or when called.

Week Six--The pups have gotten their first puppy shots, wormed, and received their second vet checked.  He was very pleased with the health and looks of the litter.  They are getting heavy and putting on some mass.  All of the pups have been introduced to chukkar wings and are highly attracted to them. When were are done and  I've put the wing up, most of them will contiunue to search and snitch where they last had the wings.  After their second day at retrieving, most are doing well retrieving a tennis ball and a  plastic bumper in the shape of the old fashing dumb bell when thrown out about 8-10 feet.  They have also been introduced to the small quail bumper made byDokken. The pups are doing well

Week Seven--The pups are really putting on the weight now.  Some are are about twelve pounds, blocky with nice wide heads, well formed paws and wide otters tails.  They are very uniform in size and personalities.  The pups are doing a lot better in their retrieving training.  They all are very familiar and attracted to the Chukkar wings.  Some are retrieving the Dokken Quail Bumpers up to 15-20 feet away.

Week Eight--The litter has been evaluated.  The report is that we should be very proud and have done a great  job with this litter.  Maya and Alibi complimented each other well.  The pups all have a deep rich chocolate coat, wide heads, blocky builds, and a wide otters tail.  They have great eye color, heavy bones, and tight paws. The pups are averaging 13-15 pounds and are completely secure in their socialization.  Some are leaving for their new homes.  Others are scheduled to leave next week.

The pick collared female has been selected to join her father Alibi in Wahsington State,  to become a show/performance dog.  We look for great things from her.  The yellow collared male went to Alabama to become an addition to a family and also a companion gun dog.  An immediate report on him is that he is such a great looking pup, that even if he were to retrieve a piece of gum, it would be okay.  He was the best retriever of the litter.   The red collared male is flying to New Brunswick, Canada to have the first crack at those Canadian Geese before they migrate down into the US.  He will also compete in field trials.  I'm sure that both pups will  become two of most handsome gundogs in their parts of the country.  The top male in conformation, the green collared male,  is waiting to fly to his new show home.   The USA collared female will become a family companion to a young couple who has a neat young son and another just on the way.  Two females have been selected to stay with us here at Woodland Hills Retrievers.

We thank all of  you for your interests in our pups.  We appreciate that they have all gone to great homes and we look forward to monitoring their futures.  What more can we want for our pups.

Below are pictures of some gorgeous pups from Maya and Alibi's pups at 6 weeks of age.
